I can barely remember my father taking me to Boling field for the XB-42 record breaking arrival. It was just days before my fifth birthday, a cold night, many people standing near the fence, and as it taxied to the crowd, did a one eighty and those big props blew a load of dirt into my eyes. I suspect the trauma of the dirt is why I remember it all.
