Hello,

I've had very limited success searching on the web for Bf 109F/G/K drawings of gear struts(undercarriage) with dimensions. Would greatly appreciate any assistance at all in my quest.

Thank You,

Did you look for the German wording Fahrwerk, Fahrgestell etc?

And the German wording for a technical drawing would be "technische Zeichnung" plural "technische Zeichnungen"

Thanks, Shortways. Appreciate you.

Hi Shortways,

Perfect!! Many thanks!

Hi Damian:

Attached are some of my Bf 109 MLG drawings that I've found or drawn from parts or other sources. Please NOTE that, I've put alot of these drawings in German title blocks, etc. in my effort to understand the practices of German A/C construction during WWII - not to push my drawings off as originals. The differences between my new drawings & the German ones should be pretty obvious.

These were done in support of my 8-162A-2 project to build parts for it.

Thank you very much, James. Excellent work on these drawings!

This book has numerous exploded views of the Bf109 gear and a single drawing. Also text descriptions and photos.

Tony

Interesting book and even more interesting prices on bookfinder.com

Cheapest including delivery to Aus makes the new copy a great deal for only AU$8 more (about US$5) but it is pushing my budget.

Most expensive are well outside my budget.

I acquired that book over 10 years ago for $35.00 USD. I've studied landing gear on the WWII aircraft quite a bit and this book was a great addition. What blew me away is that the nose gear of the Ho229 is the tail wheel fork from the He177 and the main gear for the Ho229 are modified Bf109 gear.

I also am fascinated by gear that twists as it retracts such as the Ju88 main gear and the nose gear of the He219. The F4U Corsair and AD1 Skyraider employ a type of knuckle and socket which permits the rotation.

Do you have the Aircraft Designers Data Book? It has a good section on landing gears - pages 247 to 286 - and covers odd ones like the Horten 229 and XR-60.
