The americans were using the BC-1 and BT-9, (BT-14 hadn't arrived yet), the commonwealth was using Harvards and NA-64s (the only use of NA-64 legitimately called Yale) and the French had placed massive orders for both the NA-57 version of the BT-9 and subsequently the NA-64 and the aircraft were still in the box when Germany got them. Up to date and brand new was a Christmas present.

Germans pretty much used anything. Their own obsolete fighters or purpose build and other country models. This model was captured in abundance including loads of spare parts. And that was important as you can imagine with a flight school.
