This emblem was designed by Richard Marchfelder of that unit. He also designed the 'three wasps above clouds' for II./ZG 1, which became III./ZG 76 at the start of the Battle of Britain. It later became the single large Wespe on the nose of ZG 1 aircraft on the Russian Front and the Med. Marchfelder was shot down into captivity over England on 16th August 1940. Here I am with him at a Wespentreffen in the mid-1980s.

Who did paint it? Was it one guy or were the others? The styling tells something, i have seen more.
 
Zerstörerschule Bf 110, previously operated by ZG 26, hence the tiny ZG 26 Geschwader emblem in the top right-hand corner. First saw this photo in the Balthasar Aretz collection in the mid-1980s.
