Wednesday 3 June 1942 Takeoff at 23:50 hrs for a bombing operation to Essen in Germany.
Homeward-bound, the aircraft was shot down by night fighter pilot Oberfeldwebel Paul Gildner of the 5./NJG 2.

Coned by searchlights and shot down by night fighter pilot Oberleutnant Helmut Lent of the 6./NJG 1, who was flying Bf 110 E-2 G9+CP from Stade airfield. The Messerschmitt was hit by return fire and had its port engine knocked out.

Probable claim by Flakgruppe Saar, 1./schw. Flak Abt. 742, 4./schw. Flak Abt.365 and 3./schw. Flak Abt. 637 coming down at Koerich, 14km WNW of Luxemburg at 04:00 hrs.
As far as it can be deduced this crew were the only Bomber Command crew to lose their lives in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg during 1943 (Nachtjagd Combat Archive (1 January - 22 June) 1943 Part 1 - Theo Boiten).
