This emblem appears in Maslov's book about the SB.Well it the first time for me i see this. So now i know it wasnt a Marsian sqaudron
Nice picture, but that is not a SB-2 of any version, it is either a Yak-2 or Yak-4 IMO. Either way a rarely seen type!

Yak-4.Somehow I have omitted the post here ... and I agree. The double wheels for the main landing gear .. Yak-2 or Yak-4. A good catch.
Just curious how you eliminated the earlier Yak-2 version, the only way I am aware of is the canape over the rear gunners position. I am interested in how to tell the difference from that angle? I just noticed the Oil coolers mounted to the lower front of the engines. That is a Yak-4 feature, the lack of lower cowlings hid this from me (or I just missed it) good call on the Yak-4 version.Yak-4.
Yak-2Just curious how you eliminated the earlier Yak-3 version,
Exactly! A very noticeable difference, but not the only one. You can also see the additional bomb mounts under the center wing section.I just noticed the Oil coolers mounted to the lower front of the engines. That is a Yak-4 feature, the lack of lower cowlings hid this from me (or I just missed it) good call on the Yak-4 version.
