Finally finished an Eduard kit...and it won't be the last. I'm sorry I waited so long to build one of these, and it won't be the last. It's finished with Mr. Metallic paints and Abtielung Oils, sealed in with Mr. Color Super Clear III. The blue nose was eyeballed mixing Tamiya Blue and White in the color cup. I'm sure most everyone knows the history of George Preddy. This Mustang would continue flying missions after George's famous, and last mission in her on August 6th 44 when he shot down 6 e/a. He rotated home on leave and 321 passed on to several other pilots. It eventually made its way to Walter Padden. While looking for targets of opportunity, the group came upon Ganaker Airbase that was full of e/a. They destroyed 75 aircraft that but in the process they lost Bill Patillo to ground fire and finished the war as a POW, and Walter Padden, who was hit by flak and was last seen heading West pouring smoke. His MACR gives the coordinates for the crash site but apparently his body was never recovered as he is listed on the wall of the missing at Epinal Cemetery. The model included was from a 352nd Vet and is one of the best references for the blue nose.
