Well I watched last week a documentary on Discovery about the evolution of aircraft engine...well so far so good but when it reached the jet engines that "dude" stated that the british Gloster Meteor was the worlds first operational jet engine aircraft and it didn't even mentioned the Me262 and to make things worst it didn't mentioned Henri Coanda who built the world's first jet powered aircraft.Anyway here are links that may be of use if you are interested.
