I am interested if anyone has stumbled upon any kind of sketches or maps that would depict the combat mission routes taken by the F-105Ds in SEA from the air bases in Thailand (Korat, Takhli and Ubon)? I am particularly interested which waypoints and navaids (like TACAN and UHF DF) could have been used, and where the aerial refueling took place.
A wiki article Lima Site 85 - Wikipedia said that on the Lima Site 85 there was also a TACAN station present operating on channel 97. Perhaps it was the closest TACAN station to Hanoi. Could the F-105D combat routes to North Vietnam traverse through the LS 85 on a regular basis at least till 11 March 1968, when the LS 85 was overrun by NVA commandos?
Also, the Lima Site 61 site at Muang Phalan operated a TACAN station on channel 77, which was overrun by the NVA in 1969.
Perhaps other TACAN sites were present in Laos, too. Were they also utilized by the F-105D crews?
