This topic came up on another board and as yet nobody has found an answer.
Which plane was the first to have the machine guns mounted inside the wing?
the Douglass XA-2 was one of the first (1926) that was found, but there must have been one before that. Anyone know?
 
I would rather wait and see what comes out of the Joint Combat Pistol program. It is also a .45, however I dont know what is going to come about it or what weapon will be chosen for it.
 
Not sure I think it would have been 1920s however. Will have to have a look and see with my books at home.
