Funny Question

So I'm not the only one to do such a thing back in the day,LOL. Yes I think that would have been the event, except whatever I went to had to be in 1970, as that's the year I spent at Fort Gordon. I had a 104 fever on Wednesday and on Friday was hitch hiking across Georgia. The best part was Carlos Santana getting into a beef with the organizers and going off to play at one of several free stages away from the main venue. His band was cooking that afternoon and played for three hours in the heat. My buddies and I had been on foot out of the traffic jams and found Santana by accident. Out of water, high as kites and with minds blown by the music and the crowd. That was the first of several times I saw that band -- they were absolutely spellbinding live! They always took you places you'd never been before.

Well, there was a second Atlanta Pop Festival in 1970, but I looked it up and Santana didn't play that gig.
They did play earlier that year, in March, at Atlanta Municipal Auditorium in Byron. Also on that bill were the Allman's.
Guess it wasn't the Atlanta Pop Fest you went to. Sorry for the mix-up.

Seems like it had to be the 1970 event, and the Santana memory from some other event. That was a very long time ago and memories often get vague and jumbled. That whole year in Georgia was pretty wild.

Maybe Santana was never officially there and was playing in the woods on their own? I could swear that I saw them that weekend.
