It's pronounced 'Lookers'. Andy.
Last time I was there (on the airfield anyway), I was sitting on a Phantom drop tank, in the pouring rain, waiting for a 'Herc' to turn up, having jumped out of same a few days previously, on an exercise on the east coast of Scotland.
Nice area, and just up the road from St. Andrew's, the 'home' of golf.

As long as this thread has been resurrected, the local High School are known as the BOMBERS. In front of the school is a retired U.S. Navy F-8 Corsair. It was obtained for the school from the Navy in the mid-1990s. The aircraft was brought up the Mississippi River to Memphis, Tennessee, and from there it was airlifted by helicopter to Mountain Home. The wings were shipped in separately by truck.

Nice to see a Lady who is not afraid to get her hands a bit soiled. Keep up the good work, Vintage aircraft deserve preservation and display.. Hansie

Here is an A-7E and two helicopters on display at a park on Merritt Island, FL.

That F-8 in front of the school is an A-7, probably an A-7E.

Interesting feature of the A-7E in the park is that it is not a "display." It is an airplane. The TF-41 engine is still in it. The M-61 is gone, unfortunately. It's a nice addition to the area's armament, which includes the largest number of privately owned armored vehicles in the country as well as a Canberra, a Mig-17P, Mig-15UTI, and the Knights Armament factory.
