German Usage of white phosphorus munitions

As I understand, Wehrmacht and SS use of white phosphorus was limited when it's compared with western allies and Ussr.

What was the reason of this ?


Did germans lacked raw materials to produce white phosphorus ?

For what its worth the Luftwaffe was probably the largest user of WP in their bullets / shells compared to the other air forces.

On the ground though -- from what I gather -- you're correct. Pure speculation, but WP has pros and cons compared to other types of smoke fillings, and the Germans simply decided those types were a better choice.
