The "Hitler's Buzzsaw MG-42?? Later morphed into the US issue M-60. adopted by the Army in 1959- saw usage in 'Nam-- it was in 7.62x51 mm cal. NATO-- Not sure about the length in mm of the German WW2 7.62 round- can the Grey Ghost perhaps shed some light on this? Danke..
I don't know why they'd want a MG-42, the ShKAS fired 600 rpm faster. I'm pretty sure the MG-42 shot 7.92x57.
About the only thing the MG-42 and M-60 have in common, is the feed tray design, and a lot of stamped parts used in both guns. The MG-42 is recoil operated, the M-60 is gas.
Now the FG-42 and M-60 have some design elements that are similar.
