Hasegawa 1/32 Shiden Kai Gun Sight Help

Hi all! I am working on this kit and it seems as if the Type 98 gunsight is supposed to be offset to the right in terms of the pilot's perspective. Can anyone verify? I've included some photos and then a photo from NASM

My opinion is so the recticle is fully visible with a straight-on view.
Given the most people are right on dominant the right-side offset would make sense.
