Hello, I'd like to ask for some advice... Is the number stamped on the cover a part number, or could it be an aircraft serial number? It is the same size as the one found on the Messerschmitt 109.

No. Usualy the number there is a part one that was listed in the spare parts catalog for a plane type. In the case of the German aircraft the two first digits should indicate the plane type. Because the pics you attached are too small the number can't be read correctly.
