hello all your friend here can someone please give me some info on a Boeing B-17E Flying Fortress aircraft tail number 12666 name "Lucky 666" because all i know is it had 6 more .50 cal guns than a stock B-17 and i REALLY want to know more about this plane so please HELP ME

That serial has the following info in my records:
41-2666 Construction number 2478
Boeing B-17E Fortress
Assigned: 43rd BG, 65th BS, "Lucy"
Notes:flown on mission which earned Jay Zeamer and Joseph Sarnoski the Medal of Honor Jun 16, 1943, Bougainville.

Now, was that B-17 later converted to a YB-40 escort gunship? That's a difficult question. I am trying to track down serial numbers of YB-40s.

Interesting. I see this serial number had a modified nose gun that had a trigger button on the pilot's control column. More info on "Lucy"
