Help With Identifying a Hamilton Standard Propeller Blade

Hello,

I am looking for help identifying an American Hamilton Standard propeller blade.

I have this blade and I am trying to determine which aircraft they were originally fitted to. They may possibly have been used on a Douglas DC-6 or DC-7, but I have not been able to confirm this.

The following markings are visible on the blade:

• 2 MFG 673552
• DWG-NO 7019A-2
• HG
• SHANK 62601 CHG D
• A partially illegible marking which appears to read HSP 26

The blade shown in the photographs measures approximately:
Overall length: [204] cm
Maximum width: approximately 37 cm
I have attached photographs of the complete blade, the shank and the different markings.

Could anyone help me identify:

1. The exact Hamilton Standard blade model or part number;
2. The propeller assembly on which it was fitted;
3. The aircraft types that used this blade;
4. Whether it could be associated with the DC-6 or DC-7, or any others aircrafts

Any technical documentation, parts catalogue references or photographs of a similar blade would be greatly appreciated.

FAA Aircraft Specification No. 4A10 for the DC-7C lists the 7019-2 blade.

I can't find the DWG number of the prop blade on the lists I have saved. However the quick look at the shape of the blades used for the DC-6 shows that it is not a prop blade from these aircraft rather. The shape fits to the DC-4. The DC-6 used blades of long and narrow looking roots of the blade. What is more, the most of the late props had the blade tip cut stright while your one is of a "paddle" type with the rounded tip and short root. Taking the info ThomasP posted above into consideration the DC-7 is very likely Here below a shot of the DC-7C props .. the prop was of 4,27m diameter. So the length of your prop blade 2,04m would fit.

FAA Aircraft Specification No. 4A10 for the DC-7C lists the 7019-2 blade.

Thanks so much for your reply, this confirms exactly what I was looking for! I found and checked Aircraft Specification 4A10 — the 7019-2 blades on the 34E60 hub are indeed listed specifically for the DC-7C. That solves my mystery, really appreciate the help

While digging around I came across an interesting document related to blade tip shape: FAA Specification P-851, which on page 3 mentions that both square-cut and round ("paddle") tip blades were approved options for the same aircraft. So the tip shape alone doesn't seem to be a reliable way to rule an aircraft in or out. Combined with the FAA Aircraft Specification 4A10 for the DC-7C (which explicitly lists the 7019-2 blade), that's what points me toward the DC-7C for this one. Thanks again for weighing in!
