It is not any night fighter. That's the Me109-E3 coded CE+BM, WrkN1952, the pilot - Heini Dittmar. The pic was taken in 1940 during a flight testing a prop nose towing device. She was towed by Me110C1 (CE+BU), WrkN959 flown by Hermann Wurster.
The Bf 109 was still wearing the early, camo for the daily fighters that consisted of the RLM 70/71( Schwarzgrun/Dunkelgrun) on tops.
Yes. I love the BF 109 E3 model more than the other variants. Ever since I saw this in World of Warplanes I was fascinated by the design. I even built a 3d model of it and I have a paper model.
