I was real interested in this thread, but got distracted by Lucky's new avatar~ Nice!
A book about Howard Hughes has been on my future reading list for some time now. Ever since I saw The Aviator, I have been fascinated by this man. He was way ahead on some of his planes designs. Also amazing to me is how many different companies around today are owned, or were owned by a arm of Hughes's companies. He has had a hand in everything from satellites to missiles and radar.

It kind of strikes me as a design that didn't know what it wanted to be: First proposed predominantly as a fighter (fighter/fighter-bomber); then made into an attack-plane/bomber when the fighter role didn't work out.
 
Here's some things I found many years ago ... and then they disappeared from the internet.

I KNOW there are more, but they seem to regularly change locations.
