I have a couple kits that a rather rambunctious and curious kitten(or more than one), had "helped" me out with.
Having had curious and exploratory kittens in the past, I should have been more attentive, but alas, I was in a rush to go somewhere, and had ASSumed that no harm would have come if I confined a litter of kittens in the room I build models. I can't punish them, not only because I wouldn't know which one did it, but also, it was on me to make sure it wouldn't have happened in the first place, so fie on me. Still, Someone had a grand time with a couple kits, a 1/72 CMK Mitsubishi K3M3, and a 1/48 Mirage Lublin R13 Ter.
For the most part, both kits were relatively unscathed, each one ending up with a missing part each.
With the K3M3, it was the left half of the exhaust collector ring. When I found this kit, I was quite excited, because the Pine was a flying machine that I had doubts that there ever would be a kit, but I found it. I also found out that it has been out of production for some time. Now, I realize that if were really desperate, I could possibly find another on Ebay and use the relevant part, which, after looking at the kit, might be something for the future, as, even though it is 1/72(I prefer the larger scales, but beggars can't be choosers), it might make for a nice diorama. But for the nonce, I'd prefer getting the part some other way. If nothing else, I could fashion one out of brass tubing, using the other half as a pattern, only handing it(left hand, right hand).
But, I ask if anyone might have a spare that is similar enough to be used.
On the Lublin, it was the Townend ring. Fashioning another one would be a bit more difficult, so, as above, I ask if anyone would have a spare from another kit which would work. And by "work", I mean looks scale.
On the subject of the K3M, does anyone have any photos of the full size? I'm trying to gather enough information so I can do a credible job of this, as this is one aircraft that that is worth the extra effort, and for me, that means the interior. While CMK does a credible enough job for the cockpit, what is supplied makes for a rather sparse interior. Given the number of jobs it was tasked with(training, hack flying, floatplane, and even civil use(MS-1), there is whole raft of possibilities. And, the K3M1 version, with the 8 cylinder engine could be a possibility, but then, I'd need to do a lot more research on that one.
