Hi there. I'm new to this forum so I apologise if this is posted in the wrong place.
I'm looking for some information on inertia starters, and since there seems to be a large number of experts here it seems the perfect place to ask!
In the bf109 engine start procedure it describes how the pilot should let the mechanics know 'when to begin starting' and then after 15-30 seconds to 'pull the start lever strongly.'
Am I right in saying that these instructions refer to the inertial starter system? The first bit refers to when the mechanics start cranking the handle and the lever is the one which engages the crankshaft?
Any information on inertia starters would be brilliant. Google doesn't turn up much.
Regards,
