Jan, I found two the pictures of a little bit better quality ... here the extracts ..

The net sources say that the emblem is of the Curragh Command and the Comet belonged to the 1st Tank Squadron at Curragh Camp. The symbol is two golden acorns with two oak leaves on a red back ground.

Also I found a shot of an another Comet marked with such emblem ...
