I felt this to be the best place to ask as your members will have a lot of experience in this sort of thing. This bit of light (aluminium I assume) metal was found washed up on our local beach this morning. Normally I would not pay any attention to it but I thought it looked old enough to maybe have a connection to an incident that occurred here during WW2. Basically 2 planes crashed during an air display and all aboard where killed but no-one on the ground was injured. The aircraft involved were an Airspeed Oxford I - LX598 (of 290 Sqn Long Kesh/Co. Down) and a Miles Martinet TT.1 - MS626 (from the same unit)

So could I be looking at a bit of wreckage or is this possible just the bottom of an old bucket :D

Many thanks
Brian

Hi Brian,

To me it looks more like the top off a milk churn. Has it got ant numbers stamped on it or rivets in? If it's a churn it might have a name right in the middle, usually in about 1/2" letters telling you which dairy it belongs to., Cheers, SpitfireSteve

I'll double check but I don't think there are any markings on it at all. I'll get a look in the morning.
