Hi Guys, some images of the surviving Ki-61 Hien at the Gifu Kakamigahara Air and Space Museum. I'll be posting more images from the terrific museum soon. The Hien is recognised in Japan as being of National and Cultural Significance, one of only eight aircraft and airframes preserved in Japan that hold this distinction.

The Hinomaru is an orange spotlight as the aircraft has no markings whatsoever.

I bought a rather informative hard cover book on the aircraft from the gift shop, which goes into considerable detail, including about its history and restoration. This page gives a good history of the aircraft, although it is out of date, given that it left the Chiran Peace Museum ten years ago, not only that, but the aircraft's serial is 6117, rather than 5017 as mentioned in the title.
A few incomplete examples in different locations around the world undergoing long term restoration or in storage. The one at Gifu is the only complete example. This one is in Illawarra, Australia.
