looking for info on navalized p-51 mustang

    I am looking for any info on the navy test p-51 mustang. it was tested at pax river and the museum has very little on this plane there .thanks for the help

    Bob Elder waiting for launch signal P-51D BuNo 57987 (x USAAF 44-14017) 15 Nov 44, USS Shangri-La off the Virginia Capes. Elder was assigned to SEU (Ship Experimental Unit) at the Naval Aircraft Factory at Mustin Field, Philadelphia.

    I have found very little of this aircraft on line also.

    What aircraft do you crew on. I am a Blackhawk Crewchief.
