For all the hype about the excellence of the design in this video, the engines mounted low on the forward fuselage look to be perfectly placed to ingest foreign objects from the ground.

Quite how the design would have fared as a sea plane I do not know.

Yeah, the FOD threat seems high with this one.

On the other hand, engine replacement should be easier.

To my eyes - the XB-51's engines are angled upwards, and based on this maintenance guy - maybe 6 ft off the ground?

Certainly higher than say a big mouth sucker - like the F-84.
