Messerschmitt Bf109 ... what is it?

Somebody knows what is it? It is present in the Bf 109´s with early square canopies.

This is a handle bar for sliding back and forward of the top glass, (opening/closing) of the top window. This can be found on the hoods from E-4 to F-4. The kind of the cockpit hood didn't have the metal top and side bars in the mid of the hood frame.
