Was never a big Dead fan, but they did some decent stuff and he seemed like a decent guy.

I think the first time I played in public was in Ventura, CA, in June 1984. The Dead were playing the County fairgrounds on the beach, so my drummer and I carted our gear down to the Ventura Pier about half-a-mile away and set up underneath the pier where people would some to find shade and the acoustics were better for the rock-base of the pier. He brought windchimes, a couple of bongos, and a set of crotales, and I brought my 12-string guitar, and we just sat there and played for an hour or two during the afternoon, well before the Dead went on that night.

There was a lot of money thrown into my open guitar case when we were done, and a healthy bag of Thai buds. I'll say one thing, those Deadheads were a generous lot.

Former Scorpions bassist Francis Buchholz has died at the age of 71.

The late musician's family announced the news in an emotional Facebook post on Friday. They revealed that Buchholz passed away on Thursday, Jan. 22, following a "private battle with cancer."

"It is with overwhelming sadness and heavy hearts we share the news that our beloved Francis passed away yesterday after a private battle with cancer," the "Still Loving You" rocker's family began. "He departed this world peacefully, surrounded by love."
