There is a new member called Stella Thornton interested in contacting about an entry in the this Day in Europe thread. Her grandfather is a sgt Benton and his name appears in the 1 june entry (post 899 I think). When you are about again, can you try and contact her please. There is a separate thread dealing with the issue ("George Benton RAMC Dunkirk").
Question. I have alway purchased Tamiya models since they seem the fit together the best. I know a lot has changed since I returned to modeling after 27 years given my career an all but what kit besides Tamiya do you think are comparable? I generally shy away from Monogram and such like because I've had a bad experience with them in the past. Also, are folks moving more toward the use of Acrylics as apposed to Oil Based paints?
Aww... good to hear from you. I've been away from the forum for a few. Screw the GPS. Learn how to use a lensatic compass, a topographical map and some vaseline.
How's things, man? I took a couple of hooky days from work and woke up to gunshots from my neighbors. My youngest boy (13) was very startled. Turned out it was an early morning warrant raid to a local house where the SWAT used a 12Gauge breaching shot (twice) to take out the front door. Pretty scary. About 200yds from our home. Wife asked wtf? and I said sounded like a large caliber handgun or shotgun inside a home. We thought a murder/suicide. I hate where I live. I'm not a city person.
Thanks for the Like! I fully agree that recognition is deserved. Just not combat-related recognition, unless they're sitting there in the Hummer with the shrapnel and bullet holes still being applied, controlling their birds. Then...yes. Until then, no combat awards.
I've been thinking about moving to the South Jersey area to be near family. Any warnings, thoughts or advice? I've thought about something somewhere to the south and East of Vineland. not too far from the water, but not so close as to make it unaffordable.
