    Walter Nowotny was a Diament bearer of the Luftwaffe. 258 enemy aircraft shot down. On November 8th, 1944 his Messerschmitt Me 262 crashed over Achmer Air Base near Bramsche-Epe. A stone with a plaque still marks the crash site.
