Why did you ground the paint off? Was it in bad shape. Normally there is painted writing on the props as well.

Like any antique (gun, furniture, painting, artwork, hot old lady, etc), never attempt to clean the finish. Completely destroys the value for the most part. Now, is that a vintage prop?

Looks like a Hamilton Standard prop off hand.
Real shame you ground the paint off... any extant painted numbers could have narrowed the identification down somewhat.

What material? You might want to give them a go at Wooden Propellers. They're into all kinds of propellers there.
Why scrap? Not everything has to have a value. They would still make for a nice deco, even if they are nothing special.
