A new dive bomber for the U.S. Navy, the Curtiss Helldiver SB2C-1, is seen during a demonstration flight on October 16, 1941. The new plane carries its bomb load inside instead of outside the fuselage. Its development will be protracted; the SBD Dauntless will soldier on for some time.

The b17 with tail code 25734; It served with the 92nd Bomb Group, 327th Bomb Squadron at RAF Alconbury. Was later transferred to the 91st Bomb Group, 323rd Bomb Squadron at RAF Bassingbourn.

Fate: After completing its combat trials in Europe, it returned to the United States in September 1944. It was ultimately sent to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation in Ontario, California, where it was sold for scrap metal on May 18 1945.

A couple of sources stated the 42-5732 through 42-5745. However the 42-5732 can be noticed by the wing tip only seen at the bottom of the pic. The 42-5733 is presented without the tail. But the sequence of the serials seems to confirm the info.
