Beauty! I remember seeing a Heer CH-53 at Greenham Common in (1976?), going sideways along the crowd line while moving gently up and down. In later years I used to handle these birds while doing transient maint stints in between search and rescue duties. They are somewhat awesome.
The photo was taken near Murmansk in 80'. The Mi-6 and the Soviet pilot served in the 332nd Guards Transport and Combat Helicopter Regiment The Ju-87 Stuka was shot down at the area in1942 and made crash landing during an attack on a railway line. Both crew members were not injured and made it back to German lines where they rejoined their unit. The bomber was recovered in 1996 and purchased by New Zealand collector Tim Wallis who had planned to rebuild it to airworthy status. Currently at the German Museum of Technology in Berlin.
