I am posting some of my photos from that time period at Chino. Quality is not the best on all, but cool just the same. The best looking P-51 as far as I am concerned.

It was for the movie Iron Eagle 3. Supposed to be a Bf-109. Bob Pond's MkXIV Spit and P-38 were used also. Myself and others installed smoke systems and blinkers to simulate guns firing along with fake Sidewinders installed on the Spit and P-38. How the missiles were supposed to be fired through the prop arc on the P-38 I don't know. I will have to find those pictures in the archives. Not sure if I have scanned them. Will post them if I do.

Fantastic photos. Strangely, it looks great in the German markings. It's a pity no British Mustang Is or IIs survive. It looked terrific in its RAF markings.

The problem is that when it was painted in RAF markings, most people thought is was a Spitfire. When I tried to tell them it was a P-51A they wanted to argue. I do like it way more in the 1st. Air Commando markings.

Brings back some very fond memories. The Planes of Fame airshows during the mid and late eighties were simply fantastic. They still are fantastic of course, but the atmosphere back then was entirely different and never to be repeated. It was a different era and I miss those days very much. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
