Gentlemen,

Can anyone tell me where this little plaque was located on the B-17 and B-24 and what purpose it had? For example the tag with the insciption "RADIO CALL 252396" was on board of the B-24H-15-FO Liberator 42-52396 "Suzan Jane" of 449. BG., 15. USAAF. So it probably had something to do with it's radio code (call sign?) and serial number. But as a call sign it appears rather too long and complicated to me. Maybe it has something to do with a selcal system? I did find nothing in detail on the internet. Any help and suggestions are highly welcome. Thanks in advance! Kurtl
