Hello, Currently trying to locate any scale drawings/measurements for the RAF Type 2 gun sight, if anyone could assist me i would be very grateful. Kind regards

Looking for something suitable for the Great Wall kit. I'd like to do an RAF version from the kit and there isn't a sight included that I can see (not sure if the AVG used the floor mounted one). I cant seem to find an aftermarket Barr & Stroud MK. II with the Round Reflector Glass, only the later squared off version, however the actual body of the sight looks to be the same to me in both versions, would it be as simple as using one from a Tamiya Spitfire or the like and replace the Square Reflector Glass with a punched out Circle of acetate?

Of what aircraft the Great Wall kit ? For Spitfire? What scale?

The Barr & Stroud MK. II and the later Barr & Stroud MK. II* reflector gun sight ... as you may see it should be enough to change the gunsight head with the reflector. Actually the glass brackets and the reflector should be replaced only.

Anyone know when the switch from the early to late sight happened? Which one was likely on a Spitfire Vc Trop built in March 1942?

I don't have the full story but I do see an order dated 17 July, 1942;

FROM: Headquarters, Fighter Command
TO: All Fighter Command Stations
...
Sufficient quantities of either of these two sights are now available and all units using the G.M.2. sight are to demand either of the two new types through the usual channels, returning the present sights when the replacements have arrived.

The 'two sights' are the square-glass types, the MK.IIS and Mk.II*, both essentially the same just made to slightly different drawings.

Good stuff. So it sounds like my March 1942 Spit would likely have had the round glass I guess.
