Very interesting about the Tuatara.

Fascinating I only wished I could fully understand such things instead of reading books about the Imperial Japanese Navy.

A life wasted.

It's similar to look at the stars and see infinity. Our lives a mere nothing to the vastness of nature and time and space.

In our own realm, we can and do define our own purpose and meaning to our own lives.

The universe clearly doesn't care, and I'm cool with that. Man proposes, and nature disposes. It's the way of the world, and to my thinking, no reason for any angst.

I had to help a school project on ankylosaurus so I am knowledge on the subject.

Odd how young children are drawn to dinosaurs like moth to flame.

Ankylosaurus is a big old thing. Armour plated with low centre of gravity with a hefty tail morning star.

Stegasaour v Ankylosaurus....who would win? The fans.

I would build a time machine and then get a T-rex v Triceratops in the ring and put it on pay per view.

Do you want to study the diet and habitat of Cretaceous period? Nah big rumbles in the jungle with plenty of fighting and big piles of cash.

Unless you can flip Ankylosaurus over and attack the weak underbelly.

Mother nature made a choice of either feet don't fail me now or stand there with your club tail and armoured back taking the pub on in a massive battle royale against who ever wants a go.

So the Ankylosaurus was the tank in the Cretaceous. Slow but tough. Maybe fast, light and agile would have been better. Vote now fight fans!

Stumbled across a little tidbit on the Stegasaurus. The spiked end of the tail is now officially called the Thagomizer by paleontologists.

I've got seven or eight Far Side collections that I leaf through every so often. His humor just doesn't get old for me.

ETA: Many folks have no idea that in addition to being a fantastic humorist, Larson was also a well-informed layman student of science, and one hell of a jazz guitarist as well.
