One of the few majors I haven't flown, by happenstance. I consider myself lucky to have gotten through a few Continental flights, as well as several DC-10 trips.

The first time I went to TX from CDG, my flight was supposed to be Air France on an Airbus A-340.
I ended flying on Continental and DC-10.

Oh yes the A-340, our Pilots use to describe the take off performance of a fully loaded A-340 as "the A-340 does not actually climb, as much as the curvature of the earth falls away from it"

I flew on a DC-8 only a very few times. One was from SLC to Denver and it seemed like he waggled the wings the whole way. I don't know if he was trying to give people views of Dinosaur National Park and the Rockies, or what.

On a flight from Phoenix to OKC the day before Thanksgiving in 1977, I moved my later direct flight to one that left much earlier and stopped in ALBQ. It broke down in ALBQ and so they put me on a flight that stopped in Amarillo, ended in Wichita, and we transferred to another flight to OKC, arriving at the time I would have got there on my original flight. Phoenix, ALBQ, Amarillo, Wichita, and OKC, all in one day. Felt like I'd been on a tour. And I had an F-111D/F 3 inch Diameter Flow Control Sensor in my carry on luggage.
