Something was not quite right with either one of them.

For the XP-77
Initial rate of climb, 3600fpm.
Time to 9,000ft........3.7 minutes........average climb rate 2,432fpm.

Engine was supposed to give 520hp for take-off and 520hp at 9,600ft.

You had a 520hp engine (assuming the engine ran for more than one minute at that rating) and a 3672lb plane (no external store).

Maybe it is a simple as a misprint. Either only 2600fpm to start or 2.7 minutes to 9,000ft?
However comparison with the Caudron C-714 doesn't look good.
