Humans have only scratched the surface recruiting dog talent ... smell = 1,000 x humans, what else ..? It isn't that they're necessarily smarter than other animals, rather, that their lives are socially similar to our own and so dogs integrate very easily ... training, work habits, rewards etc. Same with horses, IMO.
