The Turner Classic Movies channel has a lineup of military aviation movies Thursday Sept. 18. Toward the Unknown, Flight Command, The McConnell Story, Bombers B-52. That last is unusual in that the star (Karl Malden) plays a maintenance man, not a pilot. I understand this movie was released in the UK as No Sleep till Dawn. What?!
Another channel for military movies is Family Movie Classics (ch 314 on DirectTV). Right now they're showing Operation Pacific with John Wayne and Patricia Neal. Later today is Hellcats of the Navy and The Caine Mutiny. A nice feature is that they repeat showings the next day at a different time. Some of the movies they put on were epics in their time, such as In Harm's Way and The Bridge on the River Kwai. However, unlike TCM they do have commercial breaks. The video quality is not as good either.
