Unknown B-17 engine part for identification

Gentlemen,

here are some pictures of a B-17 engine part. It has been recovered a couple of years ago out of a little crater that probably was formed during the crash of the aircraft during World War 2. One tag is clearly visible and I hope that someone is able to tell me more about this piece. Some engines supplied electrics, others hydraulic. Maybe that piece is a clue for which engine impacted there (#1, #2, #3 or #4)?. Anyway thanks for any input.

Looks like a hydraulic pump. Tag says "Pump Engineering Service Corp Cleveland". Defense

All the B-17 engine accessories are on the back, but this doesn't look like anything I've seen on the engine.

I would agree with Tom Fey. A Pesco pump for certain.
IE-AR-280 BH does not show in my xrefs but IE-nnn-x numbers are Pesco hydraulic pumps.
I will look for other combinations but not confident.

Just looked in B-17G parts catalog and that shows no engine driven pumps fitted to the aircraft. Just an electric pump assembly Pesco IE678 mounted under the cockpit. IP677 is the pump section part number. I will keep looking

Just had a thought.
The new part number is clearly a Pesco number but the old is not unless maybe prewar. Did Pesco take over any other pump makers? Airaco disappeared during the war but their part numbers were simple 12345 so probably not them.

Hi folks,
thank you very much for identification of this part. So it wasn't part of an engine. It was located near the cockpit and the crater I have seen probably shows the impact of the fuselage...

Hi,
That is the pump head and remains of a motor of a Pesco 280 power pack as above, all I can add is these are used on 24v for prop feather on dc3/c47.
