Good morning,

I live in France in the eastern region not far from the border with Germany.
I made the purchase in a flea market of a piece of plane ww2..
Unfortunately, I don't have the crash site... if I had the type of plane I could do some research.
If you want to give me some of your time I can share other photos with you.
I would like to revive the memory of this object because for now, it is only a piece of metal.
it was very light, the violence of the crash must have been terrible
I can't find a serial number, the internal part is painted black and the external part is dark green, see photos

the pitch is variable and depending lenght and the number of rivet to obtain an equal spacing.

french aircrafts use countersunk rivet head.
french Hawk 75 had raised head rivet

Production rivet pitch should be based on stress requirements, not equal spacing. D = rivet diameter and pitch is usually based on 'x' times D. I've long ago forgotten the standards, but recall that (for example) pitch for fuel tanks is 2D and tertiary structure, 6D. Maybe someone with more recent experience can advise?

you are right for US airplane but on french ac as D 520, MS 406 the pitch depending lenght and equal division (divisions égales)
