As a no electronics specialist I have one question;
Was the trailing antenna cable must always be extended when using onboard wireless like the British T1154/R1155?
I suppose if an operator was to listen to any of the additional Morse messages and commands while in the air, especially at very low level, he must extend the antenna. If this was so each of the Lancasters went for the dam attacking mission "towed" certain length of antenna cable during the flight.
After making the bomb run each aircraft send a coded message about the result to the headquarters several hundred miles away using the wireless. But how was the antenna? Was it extended during the attack or not. I am interested in this recently.
