What is this box in the nose of a Wellington?

Hi
Image attached from UK National Archives file AIR65/68. It shows a Mk III low level bombsight with Leigh Light controls in the foreground. The aircraft was a trial one to test if the Mk III and Leigh Light could both be worked by the bomb aimer.
To the right is a black box with a semi-circle top. I'd like to know what that is. The CCDU report makes no mention of it.
My only suggestion is the Bomb Aiming Delay Device and a picture of the test model for that is also attached. That is from file AIR65/117. What torpedoes that is that the BADD trial was six months after the Mk III/Leigh Light trial. But a prototype of it could have already existed which was only trialled officially later.
Both trials were successful.
Any other suggestions? Thanks, Paul

I mean, the one in the cockpit says "BOMB" and "DIVE" on the two petals of the switch, so I assume that it's some version of the BADD.

Might be missing something here. Are you saying you could read those words on the box in the Wellington cockpit? The image with the black box and a shot of the insides is definitely the BADD but from trials six months later.

Yep. If you look closely you can just make out the labels on the unit in the cockpit.

Obviously, it's a different sub-model of BADD or an earlier point in the design because of the big slot and the handle/tab/lift ring.

Wow. I could not see any words. Will look again. Good recce skills! 😃

I cannot make out anything. But if you can see it then that indicates that is an early version of the BADD. Thanks.
