Truly amazing that this footage exists in such nice quality -- thanks for sharing.

I sure with this gentleman's father had taken footage of the Republic XP-72 with the counter-rotating props! I wonder if he was involved with that project as well?
 
OK, question: this late in the war, with all the other production birds bubble-tops in natural aluminum, why was this one a razorback in OD/Neutral Gray?
 
The photographer, Carl Breer, was a Chrysler engineer and executive. His interest and role was with the Chrysler XI-2220 engine. The XP-72 was a Republic Aviation project. But as far as rare film goes, you can find a snippet of the contra-prop Curtiss XP-60C @ 5:50 here:
