Shown here is the last A-series Wiking Bv 222V8, X4+EH runnng-up its engines whilst on its hard-standing. This aircraft was operated alongside Bv 222V4 and V5 by Lufttransportstaffel See 222 in the Mediterranean which was engaged in runnng supply missions from Italian and Greek bases to Rommel's Afrika Korps, landing at Tobruk and Derna, and returning with casualties. Bv 222V8 was lost to RAF Beaufighters over the Mediterranean on 10th December, 1942.
