By the start of WWII the Audax had been relegated to the roles of advanced trainer (the one shown here served with No.II FTS (Flying Training School) based at Little Rissington) communications aircraft and glider tug. It was used operationally by No.237 (Rhodesia) Sqd agaisnt the Italians in the East African campaign, and others, based at Habbaniyah, were in action during the Iraqi revolt of Raschid Ali in May 1941.
