Shown here is the Free French 'Hunt' class escort destroyer La Combattante (ex-HMS Haldon) towing a Sunderland Mk.II/III flying-boat of No.461 Sqd that crashed whilst alighting on the water to try and rescue the crew of a Whitley in the Bay of Biscay, 26th MAY, 1943. after suffering further damage in a collision with the la Canattante the Sunderland pilot elected to get airborne and landed on Angle airfield.
